IES has grown alongside the renewable energy industry, and it has been very exciting watching the industry grow from ‘wave of the future’ curiosity to being a common feature throughout suburban neighborhoods and at many commercial buildings. IES has performed numerous renewable energy assessments for solar PV, wind power and geothermal technologies outlining the feasibility of these technologies for our customers. This includes looking at alternative financing for sites. In fact, we helped negotiate one of the nation’s first power purchasing agreements (PPA) for solar PV in 2006! Battery storage products are the next frontier in renewable technology, with industry experts predicting their viability in all areas within the next 3 to 5 years. These will allow for excess generation produced throughout the day to be stored for use in times when no generation is occurring.
